As the cooler weather approaches, the transition from summer to fall outfits is made. At Selma High, a variety of styles can be seen on campus.
Senior Jovannie Menchaca loves wearing “a” streetwear style. His inspiration stems from streetwear brands such as Hellstar and BAPE.
“I like to buy my clothes from stores like Depop, PacSun, and local resellers,” shares Jovannie.
To jazz up his outfits, Jovannie accessorizes them by wearing necklaces and fitted hats.
When it comes to fashion, Jovannie likes to self-create, sticking to a certain look, but occasionally explores new brands.
When deciding what to wear, he prefers style over comfort, but the weather does play a major factor in what he decides to wear.
Some of Jovannie’s go-to items to wear for a casual day are a minimal graphic t-shirt, loose light-washed jeans, and low-top shoes. For the cooler weather, he likes to wear hoodies and zip-ups.
For junior Zulay Trejo, she likes to wear a mix of casual and chic clothing. For her perfect everyday wear she likes to wear a combination of baggy jeans and Sambas.
“Sometimes I like to switch it up and wear cute tops and flats to be a little more dressy, fun, and expressive,” states Zulay.
Zulay focuses on building a diverse wardrobe instead of sticking to the same everyday look. She goes into depth of how her looks are pieced together for cool weather, adding final touches such as layering clothing.
“For the cooler weather I love to wear cute long sleeve tops or even basics and layer with a cardigan, cute jackets specifically sherpa material,” adds Zulay.
When it comes down to hues of her clothing Zulay prefers to partner with a lot of warm tones. Examples of her favorite shades she mixes are browns, beiges, and mostly cremes. These shades tend to match her style to the mood of the season. When seeking her go-to items Zulay expresses she has specific stores she runs to.
“Some of my go-to items come from PacSun and H&M. Thrifting is also another go to when finding cute clothing. As for shoes, you can get anywhere, but I usually order mine from online stores,” says Zulay.
Zulay adds that although many of these popular clothing brands have tasteful finds, you may also hit the jackpot while thrifting. Patience and passion are essential for fashion.
