The Selma High girls’ basketball team has navigated a challenging season while continuing to grow stronger together both on and off the court. As the season continues and Senior Night was recently celebrated in the gym, the Lady Bears have remained focused on teamwork, effort, and building lasting memories.
For senior Gabriela Lopez, some of the most meaningful moments didn’t come from the court, but from the time spent together as a team.
“My favorite moments of the season were the road trips to our tournaments,” Lopez shared.
She also described the team as “hardworking, driven, and united,” emphasizing the strong effort the players bring each game.
What makes this season especially meaningful to Lopez is the friendships made throughout the season.
“One thing that makes this season special to me is that I get to play with people that I have known for a long time and made unforgettable friendships with,” she said.
Senior Emma Lopez reflected on the challenges the team has faced this season, especially dealing with injuries.
“Something that really challenged us was when a lot of our team got hurt, including me,” she explained.
“But despite this, we were still able to get through this by putting forth our best effort.”
Emma also noted the team’s growth, sharing that they have improved greatly in teamwork and chemistry since the start of the season.
“I can definitely see the growth and I’m proud of my team for that,” she said.
To Emma, being part of the team means staying committed through every moment.
“To me, being on this team means doing what I can to help them and being dedicated even when we’re not doing our best,” said Emma.
As the season continues, the Lady Bears remain focused on growth, teamwork, and finishing strong, carrying the friendships and togetherness they’ve built into every game.
