As the 2025-2026 boys varsity baseball season comes to an end, the team leaves behind more than just wins and losses. They set down numerous memories, nurtured growth, and formed a bond that far exceeds the playing field. For the seniors, this season marks the end of a chapter and the beginning of a new one. Their impact and contribution went far beyond the scoreboards, leaving a lasting mark on the younger players.
After suffering a 7-0 loss against the Kingsburg Vikings on May 5th, 2026, the Bears returned to the field on Senior Night with determination and perseverance. Three days later, on May 8th, 2026, the varsity boys baseball team emerged triumphant in the win against Kingsburg with a score of 9-6. With a season record of winning 18 out of their 20 games, the team has secured a spot in the playoffs. The Bears’ journey is far from over as they continue their pursuit of victory.
To honor the seniors on that day, a special commemoration was held recognizing both the players and their parents for their dedication and support throughout the season. Alongside the exchange of heartfelt words, displays showcasing the seniors were also presented to represent their achievements. Although Senior Night celebrated the players, it also reflected the guidance and hardworking spirit of Head Coach Hollett and Assistant Coach Aguilar.
Coach Hollett spoke very highly of each senior and their significance to the team. Matthew Luna and Matthew Esparsa were described as quiet leaders by Coach Hollett.
“Sonny Rivera is an excellent hitter, while Zack Carpenter is a great pitcher and competitor,” highlighted Coach Hollett.
The coaches remarked that Jayden Apodaca caught every inning behind the plate, and it wouldn’t be the team we are if he weren’t on the team. Alongside Brody Hagen, who is portrayed as someone with an infectious attitude who loves playing the game.
The seniors demonstrated success beyond baseball, achieving academically as well. Cash Sesete and Matthew French both finished in the top 25 of their class.
“Emmanuel Alanis is the ultimate baseball player, and Nico Torres is a very hardworking player,” expressed Coach Hollett.
“Nicholas Alcantar is someone you can always count on, and Sean Hernandez is a warrior,” Coach Hollett concluded.
The boys’ varsity baseball team had a strong start to the season and finished even stronger. They are not finished, however, the team awaits play offs, no matter the results. The bond and memories created throughout the journey exceed numbers.
