Boys’ Varsity soccer is in full force with seven wins, eight losses, and two ties. The team has been fighting to make it through this season to make playoffs and to ultimately reach their goal of making Valley Championships back-to-back.
The team carries more experience than last year. This year, they have nine seniors who are starters, and with more seniors means more advantage and knowledge to influence the team.
The team is preparing for the next three games of the season. Their next game will be against Kerman High School on Wednesday, February 4th, 2026. The team is making the necessary preparations and strategies to go up against the Lions.
“We’re preparing to pass the ball around,” senior Imanuel Renteria stated. “Kerman is very quick and strong, passing the ball will counter any of their possibilities with the ball.”
Coming from a tie and a two wins, the momentum from these victories will lead into the teams approach to their next game.
“Even though we won both our last games, many mistakes were made that we need to change, [and] those mistakes we intend to change for all future games. We never settle with a couple wins,” Renteria comments.
The team has been recovering from their last few games, where their starters have been injured. However, the team reports to be holding up and working to keep each other going.
With back-to-back games in a busy season like this, players have to find a balance mentally and physically when approaching a packed game schedule.
According to junior Aiden Mariscal, who plays winger and striker, the team dynamic has been improving throughout the season.
“We started to have more fun whenever we step on the field and we’ve just been playing for one another,” Mariscal expressed.
With their last three games approaching, the team remains in high spirits and in a constant state of persistence and drive. With their goal of winning league and making playoffs in mind, the team stays focused on equal contribution of intensity and effort.
“I hope to end the season by making playoffs and giving our seniors their last chance to win Valley again and make history together,” Mariscal expressed.
The Bears’ last game of the season will be on Wednesday, February 11th.
