The Selma High’s varsity football team lost their final season game with a score of 51-0 against the Kingsburg’s Vikings on October 31, 2025. Similarly, Selma High’s JV football team lost their game against Kingsburg with a score of 64-3 . Selma ended the season with a record of 3-7.
Entrance to the stadium began around 4:30 PM and the JV football team played first. The announcers noted the different feeling of rivalry and competition between the two teams. Selma’s fans were quickly met with a touchdown by Kingsburg in the first few minutes of the 1st quarter. Another touchdown was made by the Vikings towards the end of the 1st quarter.
Selma’s JV players weren’t discouraged by Kingsburg’s early lead as JV player, Erwin Lopez, scored a kick-off earning Selma’s JV three points in the second quarter. Kingsburg proceeded to consistently score two touchdowns each quarter for the remainder of the game. As a result, Selma’s JV game ended with a score of 64-3 .
As the JV game ended, both Selma and Kingsburg fans took this opportunity to purchase food from the food stands and snack bar by the new weight room. More people began to enter the stadium at this time.
Around 7 PM, the Selma Band performed the National Anthem and other tunes as they marched on the tracks. Selma’s cheerleaders followed and did their cheer routine after the band’s performance.
“The band plays tunes and joins our chants. Many were able to see the performances from the band and cheer,” explained Justin Rodriguez, a junior Baritone player.
For Senior Night, the senior varsity players were individually called by the announcers to honor them and their family to celebrate their accomplishments prior to the start of the varsity game. Many friends and family members of the senior varsity players waited on the sidelines and embraced their players as they were called. A similar event was held but for the senior band members.
“Before the game, many of the players were hyped and excited,” stated Stephen Viveros, a senior varsity player. The energy and atmosphere of the players was intense but thrilling as the bleachers matched the energy of the players with loud cheers.
Similar to the JV game, Kingsburg displayed a strong offense as they were able to score two touchdowns in the first quarter. Selma players weren’t discouraged but couldn’t get through the Kingsburg defense nor offense. Kingsburg made a few more touchdowns in the 2nd quarter, maintaining their lead for the remainder of the game.
“We were sad about the score but I really enjoyed my final season game,” concluded Stephen Viveros.
