On October 31, the Black Bear Brigade had their senior night during halftime of the rivalry game. The band performed their field show “Beyond the Noise” before recognizing their seniors. The Black Bear Brigade has put much time and effort into making every performance worth a run. They hype up the stands during football games and rallies. These students had fun and made memories during these performances.
The seniors were given flowers and banners that were provided by the band boosters. These banners include their name and the instrument they have been playing while in the program. Each of these seniors had their families there to support them and accompany them for their special night.
The seniors graduating this year put in so much time and dedication into this program. Their skills in playing these instruments have improved a lot since their freshman year, and they have learned many life lessons.
“Musically, I’ve learned how to blend and play with more confidence. While mentally, the band has taught me discipline, teamwork, and patience,” senior Aisha Alvarez states.“
The band has impacted these students in how they view themselves and what their future may hold for them.
Being in the band also helped students to achieve and experience their dreams. Senior Jose Vasquez shares how he has wanted to march in the Blue Devils since his eighth grade year. The Black Bear Brigade has led him through the right path, which led him to march in the Blue Devils B Drum and Bugle Corps and gave him hope in making the Blue Devils.
“By marching during the summer, it taught me that I can persevere through tough times, even when my morale was low,” Jose mentions.
Many of these seniors have created memories throughout their marching band seasons; they will always look back to wish they could relive those moments.
