Bright lights, music, student laughter and excitement, a day to remember, Bearchella 2026! From performing student teams to visual art performers, Bearchella brought a taste of festival culture to Selma High School. Allowing students to feel school spirit while seeing their own classmates as part of the Rally not only brought a great outcome, but also a memorable experience to share.
With 11 performing teams competing against each other, students gathered to watch as each team showcased confidence through their unique dance. From giving out candy and accessories, lip-syncing to songs, and showcasing their dancing abilities, each team brought great engagement. Reflecting different clubs and/or sports teams, each team was able to shine, not afraid of embarrassment, but rather focused on hyping up students by working cordially with one another. Performers practiced and collaborated, ensuring a successful outcome. “
The night before the rally, we practiced at the baseball fields,” shared Daisy Eugenio.
Though each performance appeared to be fun and quick, performers practiced with one another, going through steps and ideas to secure the crowd’s votes. Bearchella not only focused on school spirit but also on school unity, encouraging students to participate and unify together through dance, allowing bonds to grow and friendships to be made.
With that being said, Selma High’s Color Guard presented a performance to remember. From their gorgeous gowns to their flags and music choices, color guard individuals emerged. Displaying not only their dancing expertise but also their precise skills, students watched with great entertainment and interest. The performance implemented some of Selma High’s amazing talent. With performers taking on their breathtaking roles and performing their competitive showcase, a captivating experience was created. Performing to engage the audience, the color guard hoped to see a different outcome come from Bearchella as well.
“My goal was just to show students what we do and show them exactly what this activity is, hopefully inspiring people to audition if interested in the class,” shared junior Caitlin Rosario Arriaga.
So, even as Bearchella highlighted students and their astonishing performances, the rally was also used to bring engagement for classes/clubs, encouraging students to see future interests at Selma High.
Similarly, Selma High’s band members gathered together, performing a routine embodying a cafe. Performers took on individual roles, illustrating their acting abilities and their experience in working well with one another. Their performance was brought to life with costumes, props, and even sound effects. While serving to entertain, band members highlighted their dedication and hard work through their performances. Allowing the audience to preview a taste of what band is about, beyond music sheets and instruments.
Nonetheless, as Bearchella promoted talent and amusement, the rally brought union throughout the campus. Creating a space where students could work together and compete among one another, the rally encouraged collaboration while having fun. Using student involvement to take on suggestions for game ideas, rally themes, Bearchella called for students’ input on the event altogether. Alongside students’ inputs, ASB and all leadership committees took on this opportunity to make an event worth remembering.
“It was incredible just to see everyone’s reaction, especially when we did the countdown, and all the lights came off. It seemed like everyone who attended the rally was very supportive; it was incredible to see everyone involved and excited,” shared junior Carson Mendoza (head of ASB rally committee).
With great enthusiasm and participation, Bearchella 2026 definitely experienced great involvement which also brought positive feedback. All around, it appears as though Bearchella was enjoyed by all students.
“When they did the countdown and turned off the lights, it made me feel like a kid again; it was a vibe,” shared sophomore Adan Vera.
Alike Adan, sophomore Jacoby Gonzales shared, “It was a fun experience, all the games were fun, and the environment was too.”
In all, Bearchella 2026 was more than just loud music and performances; it became a reflection of Selma High’s school spirit! It highlighted not only school pride but also the importance of unity and support across campus. Regardless of your role during the rally, Bearchella served as a reminder that community means working together to become stronger!
