My New Favorite Drink!
By Maya Grewal
On the day Beth and I decided to go to BobaTime for this issue’s review, I forgot to bring my water to school and was parched. When we got to the little shop, all I was thinking about was ordering something to quench my thirst. On a poster, we saw they had new fruit iced teas, so I was instantly drawn in. I chose the Dragon Fruit Hibiscus Iced Tea (with boba pearls because boba isn’t boba without the pearls), and spoiler: it was amazing.
To begin, I cannot forget its presentation. BobaTime never fails with their cute cup designs. My cup had adorable little doodles scattered all over it. There were hearts, rainbows, smiley faces, etc. It added a fun, youthful vibe to the drink. The actual drink was a magenta pink color and had dragon fruit seeds floating inside. I never actually got a photo of my drink when it was full, because I instantly downed about a quarter of it after grabbing it from the serving counter (yes, I know I sound extremely obese).
My first sip of the tea felt as if the entire universe aligned in that exact moment. It could have just been my need for fluid, but if I were an animated character, I would’ve had hearts, stars, and sparkles in my eyes from how amazing it was. The drink was smooth and light, with just a slight texture from the seeds. What I loved was that it was sweet, but not overly sweet. It felt like the perfect amount of sugar (I highly recommend it for those who like mildly sweet drinks). It tasted similar to lemonade, but what made it different was that you could taste the dragon fruit. It was incredibly refreshing and replenished my thirst quickly.
Overall, I was reminded of being in a vast field of flowers at the height of spring. The drink gives me more spring and summer vibes, so I wouldn’t recommend it for cold, winter weather (unless you’re really thirsty, apparently). Before this visit, my favorite drink was the Watermelon Fruit Tea at BobaTime (watermelon is my favorite fruit). However, this drink topped it, which I would’ve never expected! I would rate it a solid 9.5 out of 10.
Cinnamon Toast Yum
By Bethany Cazares
For this month’s review I decided to try the Cinnamon Cereal Shake. At first I was a little confused because when I ordered this drink, I saw that there was supposed to be a sprinkle of cereal on top, which I did not see…but it’s okay, I still appreciated the very cute cups that Boba Time has, so that made up for the lack of cereal toppings in my drink.
This shake was actually a lot more simple than I had anticipated. The texture was nice, and once you started drinking it, there were actually lots of cereal bits in there that I really enjoyed.
There was a delicious amount of sweetness, and it actually tasted a lot like a combination of Frosted Flakes and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. For me, the vanilla and cinnamon in this drink was like a nice mix of fall and winter vibes.
It honestly tasted just like the leftover milk after having Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, just in milkshake form, or like a churro from Disneyland during Christmas time. It even made me think of the horchata I’d get as a kid from my local taco truck.
This drink took me right back to my childhood and brought back all sorts of memories, like when I would keep asking for more Cinnamon Toast Crunch in my already sugary milk when I was little.
I give this drink a 9/10, just for all the nostalgia it gave me. It definitely is one to add to my regular drinks rotation!
