The Toy Story Club at Selma High sparks students together through service, generosity, and kindness. Volunteers organize fundraising events such as toy drives and donations for underprivileged children and young patients. Through these efforts, even small toys can bring big smiles to children going through hardships.
In a world where many face various obstacles, the Toy Story Club aims to brighten lives by spreading joy and kindness through service. This club emerged from the sharing idea of delivering happiness. Whether that be from delivering goodies or bringing smiles through service.
“This club was created this year. It is different from other clubs because we focus more on others,” said Selma High Senior, and Toy Story Club President, Joana Perez.
“Toy Story club is different from other clubs because we partner with the mental health team around Christmas time to collect toys for the children of Selma,” Secretary Vivi Ruiz added.
The community has made a meaningful impact on society. During their Christmas toy drive, they donated 223 toys with the support of the mental health team. But the club’s work goes beyond donations. Members are also able to participate in hands-on activities with children, such as reading books to the Boys and Girls Club, creating a positive environment.
“Future plans include partnering with the Boys and Girls Club to make an impact with the kids in their community,” Karen Urieta, treasurer for the group exclaimed.
“We saw how good our last toy drive went and right now we are thinking of doing a school supply drive for the spring semester!” Joana Perez highlighted.
What started as a simple idea of spreading positivity throughout the community has now turned into a movement of kindness. The Toy Story Club continues to grow and brighten people’s lives. This club truly embodies that through generosity, teamwork, and drive, students can make the world a little brighter.
