The Selma High Girls’ Soccer team finished off their season on Tuesday, February 21st when they faced Mira Monte High School. It was a tough defeat for all the girls with a score of 3-0.
Finishing the season strong with a league score of 5-1-2.
“I believe all the hardships we had at the beginning of the season have made us into a stronger team now,” expresses Coach Zamora.
The team’s positive attitude and understanding of one another made for a great season.
“Winning League made me feel a lot more accomplished, winning something that was not academic-based was really new and made me feel like I achieved something more than just League,” states Center- back, Samantha Zarate.
The girls had aimed to make it to the playoffs, putting their effort into maximum performance, and made it.
“Playoffs were a great experience for the whole team and allowed the team to better connect and create the best memories of my last year playing high school soccer with the girls I enjoy being with,” states Varsity captain, Makaira Chaves.
Although it wasn’t the result they hoped for, they still have high hopes for future games next year.
“I am super proud of the girls for making it this far and I hope we continue to succeed and bring a championship to Bear nation,” expresses Coach Zamora.
“My goal at the beginning of the season was to make it to playoffs and I’m proud that our team made it,” stated Chavez.
Despite not having the results they’ve hoped for, the girls believe they can still take away a lot from this season and look forward to what the next season holds for them.
