With the 2024-2025 Selma Baseball regular season coming to an end, there are still a lot of goals the team wishes to accomplish. They have had a very successful season so far, going 16-8 overall and 6-1 in their league.
“My goal for this season is to just do my job on the mound,” Cash Sesate, a junior, says, “while helping my team get a ring on our fingers and win a Valley Championship.”
While holding personal goals, the boys still look out for the team’s ambitions and are striving to win a valley championship.
The baseball team this year expresses how closely-knit they are. This helps tremendously with the chemistry on the field.
“We are always all together,” says Sonny Rivera, a junior, “We’re with each other all the time, so it helps build connections.”
Sesate added that being able to have fun every day with his teammates, whether it being at practice or at games, helped increase camaraderie and fostered closer bonding.
Kayden Berry, a senior, adds that his favorite thing from this season is the sense of brotherhood.
The Bears have persevered throughout this season by continuing to overcome challenges, and have demonstrated their skills in their impressive league record.
“Beating Kingsburg in their own stadium,” as Sesate reflected, was one of his best moments during the 2024-2025 season. Winning against the school’s rival is always a big accomplishment and is something to celebrate. The Bears really capitalized on their win, the score being 5-2. This was an especially important win after losing to them 8-4 two days prior. They got a feel for redemption that was much needed for them.
“What has helped me grow this season,” Rivera continued, “is focusing on what’s happening in the present, having a good mindset when playing, then just communicating with the team. It just helps us all, and gets things going smoother and better.”
The baseball team plans to continue to persevere and hopefully end the season off with a Valley Championship.
