Pickle Lovers Dream
By Kimberly Bojorquez
To all my pickle obsessed readers, this review is for you! Today I tried a pickle flavor shaved ice, one of the most questionable flavors on the Pelicans menu. I must admit I was really excited to try this neon green snow cone because I’m a pickle lover myself, however it was still a shock when taking my first bite. It literally tastes like pickle juice poured on shaved ice (I wonder why). It took me a while to adjust to the sour flavor and I couldn’t really decipher anything besides “pickle” and so if that sounds intriguing I’d recommend it. It tastes what it sounds like and so I can’t complain about being misled. Despite the flavor being accurate, I wouldn’t describe it as enjoyable. For me it was too overbearing and I can’t see myself getting it again. However, it wasn’t a total waste of money and was a lot of fun to try which is why I’d rank it a 4.5/10.
A Dill-icious Paradise

Well this might be the weirdest Pelican flavor I’ve ever tried and honestly, I don’t know how to feel about it. For this review, I decided to try the Dill Pickle flavor. I’m a big fan of pickles so I was so excited to see this odd combination of ice as pickles would go. The color was so bright, it looked like my highlight that I use to study for Mr. Johnson’s exams (panicked a little, to be honest). Ok now, for the tasting, the first few bites literally tasted like if I was eating straight pickle juice but with a hint of sugar. Honestly, It wasn’t too bad, but I don’t really like mixing sweet and salty, so it was ehh. But as I got more bites it tasted like the water you drink at Disneyland when you’re refilling your water bottle at Star Wars Land. (I love Star Wars, no hate.) I would say it tasted like “Shout” from Tears for Fears, only because it started playing when I was eating it. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this taste. If you like the mix of sweet and salty, then you should try this out. 5/10.
