Have you ever received a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, but felt disappointed knowing they would die soon? Well, allow me to introduce the solution: Michelle’s flowers. Crafted by hand with silk ribbon, Michelle can recreate almost any bouquet with all types of flower, along with any requested accessories.
Business-owner and a sophomore student here at Selma High, Michelle Vang, started her business only a year ago.
“It all started freshman year in my Floral Design class. I didn’t feel like working with real flowers right away, so I found an alternative, which was ribbon flowers,” Vang recalled. “But I also got some inspiration from videos I found on Instagram.”
Michelle’s arrangement prices vary from type of flower, bouquet size, flower color, and accents the customer may wish to add to their bouquet for an additional fee.
“Right now I offer roses, plumerias, delilahs, sunflowers, hair-clip bouquets, and most recently, real flowers. I can also make boxes with flowers or candy in them, as well as boxes in the shape of any object a customer might want or a certain initial. Recently, I made a bouquet with hot wheels, so that’s also an option,” Vang explained.
Despite coming a long way in her business, Vang has had some ups and downs.
“From first starting out, I’ve definitely learned to manage my time a lot better as well as learning to put school first. My customers are really understanding when I tell them ‘Hey, I may need to push an order back a day to finish up some school work,’ but the order itself will never be pushed back more than two days,” Vang expressed. “My work has also improved a lot since back then. I used to doubt my work a lot. I received a lot of backlash for my prices not being within people’s price ranges. But now, I’ve learned to compromise with them to make something within their price range that they’ll love.”
Lastly, Michelle also loves being able to admire her finished work.
“My favorite part is definitely seeing everything put together.Since a lot of my customers are girls, I’m always happy to see a smile on their face when they receive their gifts. And maybe the money too,” Vang jokes.
If you’d like to order a bouquet from Michelle, you can find her on Instagram under the user @michelles.flowerss. There, you can view her policy as well as her prices for the bouquets. Make sure to choose and send an inspiration photo for your bouquet prior to ordering.
