With soccer season starting, the girls’ varsity soccer team has begun preparing themselves for the months coming ahead that will challenge their abilities to unite their devoted practices and shared bonds.
On November 14, the team won in a scrimmage against Sanger West, which was a substantial event to set the tone for the remainder of the season.
In order to persevere towards success, the team has been focused on maintaining a healthy environment by implementing goals that transpire into each idiosyncrasy and the team as an entirety.
Senior Lilliana Huerta Zavala expresses that she has been working towards achieving her goal of obtaining cognizance on how to be a better and more vigorous team leader.
“I’ve been trying to incorporate a lot of positivity,” Huerta Zavala states, “while also trying to push the team to become better and better each day.”
One of the objectives that the girls’ soccer team hopes to execute this year is to win a league or playoff title.
“That itself is something that the team shares a strong common interest in,” Huerta Zavala shares.
Members of the team have expressed that constructing these goals have heavily influenced their work ethic and their meticulous approach to their adherence to the team. It has provided them with something to strive for, as well as discipline, ultimately improving their teamwork.
Not only has the team been concentrating on their ambitions, but they have been centralized on enhancing their relationships within the team in order to intertwine their skills with personal connections.
“We also played during off seasons,” shares Lainey Davis, a junior, “which has strengthened our relationships immensely on and off the field.”
Starlette Ordonez has commenced her first season with the Selma girls’ varsity soccer team as a freshman. She communicated that the environment is encompassed with senses of positivity that create an ardent anticipation for the upcoming season.
“Compared to past years, we’ve been a lot closer as a whole,” Lilliana Huerta Zavala states. “I think that [that] is something a team needs [in order] to be successful for the rest of the season.”
By accomplishing these perpetuated notions, the team has acquired the capability to take steps further to their milestones set for the school year by using a variety of strategies that continue their ongoing stability.
