As the cold weather comes around, Selma High’s boys’ basketball team is preparing for their season. They have so far played in a few tournaments, home and away. With a new team, there are goals being made and sought after.
“Our team goal,” said Jeremiah Posada, a senior on the team, “is to repeat as league champs and make it to Valley,” expressing his goal for the season and assuring that it can be reached, if they take one game at a time.
New people on the team can signal the forming of new chemistry as well.
“I feel that we can become a great team this year once we build our chemistry,” said Matthew Esparza, a junior.
“I’m most excited to grow as a team,” explained Zachary Vieira, a junior.
In creating a greater, more significant bond among the team, they can benefit by having higher chances of progressing far in the season.
“I feel confident in our team and season after a few rough tournament games,” adds Vieira.
Some tournaments may have not been easy for the Bears’ basketball team, but they are determined to not let that define the rest of the 2024-2025 season.
“We know what mistakes have to be taken care of for the future,” commented Posada.
They are not scared of a little pressure from the flaws and will use it to improve for their upcoming games.
Selma High’s’ boys’ basketball team has their first home game against Mission Oak at 6:30 on December 10th in the main gym. They encourage all to attend and to support the team.
