- 2 cups warm milk *
- 1 cup flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ cup unsalted butter *
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
- 4 oz softened cream cheese
- 4 cups flour
- 2 tbsp melted unsalted butter *
- ¾ cups light brown sugar
- 4 tbsp milk *
- ¾ cup softened butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
To begin, obtain a large bowl and add 2 cups of warm milk, ½ cup of granulated sugar, ½ cup of unsalted butter and mix with a whisk. Add 2 ¼ tsp of active dry yeast and mix again until yeast is covered in the mixture. Leave the mixture for 10 or more minutes until the yeast has bloomed. Next, add four cups of flour and stir until fully incorporated. Tightly seal the bowl in plastic wrap and let it rise for one hour until it has doubled in size. To create the filling, grab a small bowl and mix ¾ cup of light brown sugar, ¾ cup of softened butter, and then 2 tbsp of ground cinnamon.
When your dough is ready, utilize a mesh strainer to add 1 cup of flour, 1 tsp of baking powder, and 2 tsp of salt. Then fully integrate it with a large spoon.
Place pinches of flour on a clean surface or counter and knead your dough for 10 minutes, using the least amount of flour necessary. Spread the dough into a square and utilize a bench scraper or other flat tools in hand to straighten the perimeter of the dough. Take your filling and spread it evenly among the refreshing dough. Roll your dough and stretch if needed to formulate perfect spirals. To cut your dough, you can use a knife or dental floss for a much cleaner cut and less smudging. Place it into a tin with food spray and leave a little space in between each roll. Place a towel over the tins and proof for 35-45 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or as desired. Lastly, for the frosting form a mixture of 4 oz softened cream cheese, 2 tbsp of melted unsalted butter, 4 tbsp of milk, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, and 1 cup of powdered sugar.
