Mr. Vieira is a new Credit Recovery teacher on campus. He isn’t new to the district, but he’s new to SHS. He attended many colleges before he started his career of teaching, such as College of the Sequoias, Reedley College, Fresno State University, and National University.
He chose Selma because he was raised in Selma and it felt nice to stay at home. Vieira’s goal for his students is to get them caught up on their credits with the hard work they display. When asked why he chose teaching he said he enjoys being around kids and coaching.
“I get summers off!” Vieira said with excitement. “It’s been an amazing experience. The adults are great and the kids are phenomenal,” said Mr. Vieira.
Mr. Vieira hasn’t found any challenges at Selma High. Vieira said he’s looking forward to having a great year on campus and a successful basketball season. Outside of teaching, his hobbies include coaching basketball and playing video games. Mr. Vieira is also a family man.
“My oldest daughter is a teacher at Lincoln, my middle daughter got hired here at SHS and coaches basketball, and my son is a pretty successful junior so far.”
Mr. Vieira believes that the best part of working here is how great the students have been at Selma High School.
