Natalie Thomas is the new Native Spanish teacher here at Selma High school. Mrs. Thomas shared some amazing background about herself and what made her be where she is today.
Thomas attended UC Santa Barbara. “I loved it! I did my undergrad and graduated and got my bachelor’s and master’s. I kinda chose it because it was a beautiful campus. It was a beautiful time,” said Mrs.Thomas.
She chose teaching during her third year of college. She taught Spanish to the people who only spoke Wolof. Wolof is a language, Wolof is a West African language spoken in Senegal, Gambia, and Mauritania. She loved helping them learn and motivating.
Ms. Thomas enjoys teaching at Selma High. “I really loved the vibe here and the people. The teachers and how everyone is very helpful.” says Mrs. Thomas. She said that the number of people in the school community is as big as the one she grew up in.
Mrs. Thomas says that her experience has been great here at SHS so far. She sees the students motivated, which is something nice.
Mrs. Thomas has passions outside of school.“My first passion is my daughter, and I love teaching her and being with her. I love studying languages, especially Latin American languages.
