As the bustling halls begin to crisply echo once again at Selma High School, copious new faces have immersed in our new school year 2024-2025, one of which is math teacher Tory Jacobs.
Ms. Jacobs was born and raised in her home state of Texas where her family still resides today. After a year of living in between the landscapes of Minnesota, she relocated to Fresno with her beloved dog companions, Melo and Leo who have all been with her between the past nine years.
As one of our newest incorporations to our Selma bears, Ms. Jacob’s first initiated her pre-registration and agenda at SHS when she attended Alliant International University for a total of three years studying Mathematic Education. Along with going to California State University, Fresno for four years where she earned her bachelor in Mathematics, and University of Minnesota for one year to further expand her educational teachings for students. All of her experiences intertwined to form a learning and kismet of her journey that paved the way to the new glories she found with alacrity to disseminate to students.
“I went into education to encourage and assist young people to realize that they can be successful no matter where they are from,” stated Ms. Jacobs.
Ms. Jacobs imparts that she desires her students’ school year to be draped in the warm cascades of guidance, motivation, and inspiration that will descend upon them to touch their lives forevermore. She wants her students to gain the perception that they are able to arrive wherever they yearn to go no matter where their stories have begun. She states that she wants to be their instrument of inspiration with her personal approaches that will stain an indelible mark in her students’ pathways as they are assimilated with support that ameliorates them, igniting the faculty they have at arms reach to sculpt who they are.
Setting apart her profession, Ms. Jacobs spends her time traveling, coaching, and looking through amazon to scrutinize for new pairs of shoes to purchase. Her leisure time consists of venturing towards the exquisite natures offered through travel between the selcouth skies on planes, oceans through cruises, and grounds she sets foot upon. In the midst of these evocative experiences of breathing new roads, she seeks spare time to practice one of her passions and job of being a basketball coach on the weekend for students and their future.
“I can be a bit lost at times. So far, my time at Selma High has been fantastic. I adore the ambience–it’s really friendly!,” Ms. Jacobs expressed.
Ms. Jacobs has had the opportunity to meet unforeseen, sweet dispositions at her vocation here at Selma High as she navigates the mystifying hallways. Although she states teachers are less antithetical than students, she has dabbled with the flickers of benevolence presented at Selma High School where her time has been phenomenal.
