Gold’s Superiority
By Jasleen Ganger
Gold holds so much history within its significance from various cultures. Its beauty shines so distinctly that it is even preferred by people who have a knack for fashion. Its prestige has transcended through centuries and continues to be so prosperous in our day and age. So how can silver compare? Well, it just simply can’t.
I hold love for both gold and silver, but gold will always continue to be superior because of its deep significance within the fashion world. I might be biased as an Indian girl who has been wearing bangles since I was a baby, but it’s truly jewelry that stands out because of its background and quality.
Gold is something that you can just throw on and it already makes your look ten times better. There’s a reason why in so many cultures women are drowning in gold jewelry on the day of their marriage, it all comes down to standing out amongst others. These women are not just seen as a bride as they wear gold jewelry, they are seen to have the essence of a queen. A bride must shine brighter than anyone.
This can’t possibly be compared to silver, as gold is a metal that stands out so highly throughout its times. Its value is something that silver just can’t compare to. As Californians, we even have to learn about the significance gold had during the Gold Rush because it was that big of an historic event. Which was all due to what? It was all due to gold.
Sure silver has its significance in innovations, but Gold has its significance highly recognized in cultures. Relating back to bangles, these pieces are prime examples of cultural significance. From my mother, from my grandma, and from my great grandmother back to me, we all just can’t take this metal off us because it represents our heritage so profoundly. I will never not be able to take my eyes away from my mother’s wedding photos because of the shine that gold brings to her eyes. Gold is simply a phenomenon that has changed style forever.
Today there are people changing constantly in the hopes of trying to find what truly fits them. With generations of gold still being a signature piece on people today, it really entails how big of an impact gold has. It helps people to have a stronger sense of individualism as dopamine fills their minds at the sight of gold. It’s both a luxury and symbol of cultural significance that none of us can quite stray away from.
The divine power gold holds can not be compared to any metal in general. When we see Olympic champions carrying their gold medals it serves as a symbol of the weight they’ve been carrying on their backs to achieve such an accomplishment. Same goes for a bride on her wedding day, the religious significance behind kara’s on the wrists of Sikh’s, gold Buddha’s, etc. It’s a radiating sense of purity that’s unmatched.
Why Silver Outshines Gold
By Brenda Vasquez
Throughout history, gold has always been the preferred metal when it comes to building or using it as a fashion statement. However, it is about time that a new metal takes its throne away, as silver is by far superior to gold. As time goes on the more people become aware of the fact that silver is overall, the more ethical and superior metal to gold. Not only for its unique qualities, but also because of its countless useful abilities.
When forming an outfit there is one key detail that can’t be missed, it’ll help your outfit stand out and take it to a whole new level of astonishment. This key detail is jewelry! Whatever style a person leans more towards, a statement necklace or statement piece is always a necessity. When it comes to deciding what type of jewelry should be chosen it is clear that silver jewelry is the better option. With silver jewelry a person has more variety, as it is a cheaper type of metal. Not only is it more affordable than gold, but because of its accessibility to people more production of goods are able to come out of silver. Even when it’s a statement piece, it never takes away too much attention from the outfit itself, rather it emphasizes the uniqueness of it. Making sure that the center of attention stays on the person and not just the clothing.
Silver is not just important when it comes to fashion, but it is also an important factor in our regulated society. Silver is one of the main products used in the making of hardware needed to create various products. Some being, cell phones, computer chips, circuit boards and so much more!
Silver is the key to helping our environment replenish from the countless years of pollution our earth has been exposed to. Silver is a key component in the making of solar panels. It creates solar cells that are one of, if not the biggest component in being able to extract energy from the panel. The best aspect of this is that silver is completely recyclable making it extremely economical and environmentally friendly. It is a very important factor, as it’s the cornerstone of our green energy future.
Although gold does hold a great amount of value in currency and in culture, as society starts to grow and modernize, silver has been proven the obvious choice when it comes to what the better metal truly is. Not only does it exceed the expectations of our society, but ultimately saves us time and money when using it. Compared to gold it stands out amongst all metals for its countless benefits and services to society.
