MCJROTC had their first big event of the year, on Saturday September 21. This was the 47th annual Scottish Gathering and Games event. It took place at Kearney park.
Cadet Dominguez talked about how the program helps out every year. “Every year there’s games, entertainment and food. They have heavy athletics, such as clan row, bagpipers, marketplace, youth athletics, herding dogs, and the “Living History” village”, said Solleil Dominguez.
During the time, cadets helped guide in the parking lot. They made sure people knew where to go. She says that cadets also sell water bottles for the program. Parents of cadets help with cooking food for cadets. Cadets have the opportunity to check out vendors after shopping. They clean up and pick up leftover trash, according to cadet Dominguez.
Cadet Private Navarrete said that his experience was great.
“Great experience because we got to help out people in the community. It’s hard work but at the end of the day it feels good knowing that you helped people,” said Navarrete.
“We helped to insure people didn’t get hurt by any weapons used in the gladiator fights,” stated Mario.
Navarrete concluded by saying that parents of cadets went and helped out by making and distributing food to the cadets.
