The end of the high school years of the class of 2025 was initiated in a celebratory manner. Senior sunrise took place on August 21st at Stanley Stadium.
Partaking for many years, Senior sunrise has been a tradition of Selma High’s in which all of the senior class comes together to watch the sunrise at the beginning of the school year.
In this event, it was heartwarming yet a bittersweet moment as each of the seniors participated in a memory being made all together.
Beginning at 6:00 a.m., students arrived with their belongings such as blankets, snacks, and cameras, to enjoy the moment. The seniors were provided with donuts and drinks as they reminisced about their time spent in high school. To capture the memories being established, many students used the backdrops being provided to take photos with digital cameras and cell phones.
“I really enjoyed the senior sunrise since it brought us together in a way, and taking pictures with my friends just made the whole experience memorable,” explained senior Melanie Rivera. Rivera was able to capture moments that won’t be forgotten with the long term friendships made at Selma High.
The special thing about this event was that everyone was able to connect with each other as they are coming to an end of childhood and entering the adulting chapter of their lives. It was a special moment that brought students together regardless of differences.
“I am trying to enjoy my senior year to the max as it is our last and final year to have fun and enjoy our teenage years before we have to get into adulthood,” informed senior Valeria Quezada.
Therefore, the sun has risen for the upcoming graduating Class of 2025, making one of the biggest moments that we all will be glad to look back to in the years to come.
