The Softball team has had a successful season, ranking number one in league standings so far.
The team’s strong synergy has been a large factor for their success.
Sophomore Emma Galaviz explained that having good energy with one another as well as superb communication is key to seeing results on the scoreboard.
“Understanding your teammates allows for better coordination, anticipation of plays, and seamless execution of strategies,” Galaviz stated.
Galaviz expressed that the rich chemistry created with teammates is what makes a prosperous season.
When you have good energy with your team it helps, “uplift the team spirit, boost morale, and create a supportive environment for all players,” Galaviz added.
Coach Tapia who has been the varsity softball coach for six seasons, notices the immense bond created between the girls, and the importance of it.
“The girls love being around each other and have built a great team chemistry. They are very supportive of each other,” explained Coach Tapia.
“This team is getting better as the season progresses. We have beat several Division 1 schools including Clovis North,” elaborated Coach Tapia.
Senior Khamara Dement believes softball has had a positive effect on her life, and appreciates her teammates for being a part of her high school softball journey.
“I’ve learned many valuable lessons and got to meet so many great people because of it,” stated Dement.
Although this is Dement’s final year playing softball in high school, this isn’t the end of her softball career. She will be playing softball at Texas A&M University, where she will also be studying kinesiology.
Dement is going to leave behind several teammates, Galaviz being one of them.
Galaviz believes that such a victorious season wouldn’t have been possible without her senior teammates from whom she’s learned a lot.
Galaviz plans on continuing to showcase her softball abilities during her high school years, and believes that her senior teammates’ skills have sharpened her own skills.
Galaviz’s gratitude towards her senior peers is immense since she has learned from them as well as celebrating their achievements and creating long lasting memories together.
The softball team was able to reflect on their last season with each other on senior night.
For Dement, senior night was particularly memorable because of the people who were able to accompany her.
“Having my family and friends there was very special to me. Just getting to have fun with my teammates on our home field for one of the last times together was exciting,” reminisced Dement.
With softball being the final sport of the year, it creates a nostalgic feeling of growth and dedication for the players, who witness each other’s accomplishments in every step of the way.
