After the sun shone on the seniors for the past year, it finally set on May 9th, hinting at the end of the senior class’ journey. After a whole year of dedication and effort for their futures, the Class of 2024 commemorates the end of their journey with Senior Sunset set up by leadership. The event started at 6 p.m., with pizza and snow cones handed to the first 150 seniors that came. The seniors were then able to sit down with their friends while enjoying the sunset. There were also activities set up to paint their grad caps, play games, and take pictures all across with a photo booth available for them as well.
“I think it’s a good event because it brings everyone together, even the most unexpected friend groups,” expressed senior Joanne Garza. “I think it’s so nice we all come together not as classmates but as friends even if we don’t really know each other that well.”
This event is a way for seniors to come together and reflect on their memories one last time before they go their own separate ways.
“I enjoyed spending time with friends, playing games and eating,” mentioned senior Julissa Silva. “I also liked the vibe when the sun started going down and it got darker.”
“I personally found it enjoyable as I was previously studying for my AP Stats midterm and the Senior Sunset was my break from studying,” stated senior Daisy Mendoza.
The sunset ended with smiles and laughs garnered with friends amidst all of the stress and burning out seniors have been facing.
“It was a time to get away from the stress of tests and schools and take in the fact that we are going to graduate soon and appreciate the time we have left together,” shared senior Mariah Gonzales.
The seniors needed a moment to find peace and soak in all of the beautiful memories they have created so far.
“I enjoyed getting to experience the Senior Sunset with friends and just getting to relax,” mentioned senior Gaby Ramirez.
Senior Sunset makes another hangout for friends and helps seniors decompress amidst all of the stressful events going on.
“Senior Sunset is a good event because we get to reminisce over the year while not having to say a complete goodbye,” stated Carlos Calixtro.
As the sun sets on the 2024 seniors, their next chapter awaits them with a new sunrise into adulthood.
