I’m 18 years old and have not received my Hogwarts letter.
Ever since I was eleven years old, I anticipated getting my letter in the mail, but it didn’t come. I guess I really am a Muggle but I truly believed Dumbledore would make an exception. Alas, I have come to peace with the fact that I was not admitted into the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, so I’m going to cope by writing about it in The Clarion.
In fourth grade, I went to a thrift store and saw a book with no cover. It was a mystery book, so I made my mom buy it. It turned out to be Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling. Ever since then, the series has been one of my favorites and I wish I could step foot on Platform 9 ¾ and board the train. On the train, I would buy a chocolate Frog.
I have done many tests and have received either Gryffindor or Hufflepuff as my Hogwarts house. So I’m not too sure what house I’d be in, BUT I’d probably choose Gryffindor. While attending, I would try out for the Quidditch team and beat Slytherin with flying colors (Harry, please catch the snitch). I would be late to probably all of my classes due to being starstruck at everyone and everything around me. Don’t even get me started on the food. A full-course meal every day? Say no more.
I was actually able to live this dream when I visited Universal Studios and went into Diagon Alley along with visiting the castle and going on the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride. This experience is the closest one can get to being in the Harry Potter world.
Even just visiting this part of the theme park, you feel so immersed. If I felt this excited just BEING at the park, imagine being able to experience it. Tasting Butterbeer, buying Quidditch gear, and buying a wand at Olivanders is just a taste of what the actual thing would be like. I would adore being there, except for the last few movies.
I don’t want to experience Voldemort’s wrath.
