At school or the workplace, the unsung heroes are frequently the lunch staff . They put in a lot of dedication behind the scenes to make sure that staff and children receive wholesome breakfasts to start the day off well.
To prepare meals, served with a smile, and cleaning up afterwards, they get up early in the morning.
Although their commitment to serving scrumptious and nutritious meals is frequently overlooked, their influence on the well being of people they serve is evident.
They are essential in establishing a supportive and nurturing atmosphere for the people they assist.
One of the high school heroes who helps with the student meals is Leticia Fabela. Ms. Leticia has been working as the food staff for Selma High for around 21 years.
“After 21 years, I am beyond the difficulties. I keep my attitude positive with my head held high,” explained Fabela.
The immense strain of feeding hundreds of mouths is unknown, from feeding the workers to feeding the students. However, she finds fulfillment in her work, despite the challenges it presents.
“I enjoy working and being around the kids. They are the ones that make my day go by and give me a sense of purpose,” mentioned Fabela.
Leticia works nonstop from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. to ensure that the food is properly cooked and sterilized to protect the safety of the staff and students. Maintaining a balance between one’s personal and professional lives is a challenging endeavor, but Leticia doesn’t let that come across her job.
“I use self care practices to relieve stress for my wellness. I live by the quote, ‘What happens at work, stays at work,’” elaborated Fabela.
Not only does Leticia find joy in helping the students and staff, but also has her own interests she dives deep in. Being a mother and grandmother, she enjoys spending as much time as she can with her loved ones.
“My hobbies include being around my children, grand babies, and dancing,” expressed Fabela.
Therefore, remember to show your appreciation for the effort and attention to detail that the lunch ladies put into their work the next time you meet them in the cafeteria. Express gratitude for their assistance, recognize the significant part they play within the school, and how much of an impact they share within the school air.
