In our busy day-to-day lives, rushing between classes and dealing with our ever growing piles of assignments, we take every chance we can to catch a break. The long awaited time of each school day, admit it, is lunch. The precious time after fourth period and before fifth, we take this time to rest and fuel ourselves in preparation for the rest of our day. Our time from class to cafeteria is most likely spent with one thought on our minds: What to eat. But as we spend our time pondering our food choices, we fail to wonder or recognize the faces behind our warm trays.
Breakfasts before school and during break, lunch in the middle of the day, and after school snacks, the hard work of preparing and distributing food to students is an all day task. But by who you may be wondering by now?
Jayvier Ceballos is one of the great, hard working lunch staff here at SHS.
Working here since April of last year, Jayvier has much experience in the food industry. He previously worked at a restaurant for ten years.
“I was ready for a change, to try something different, something new,” Jayvier shared.
Working at Selma High has brought new changes and tasks to Jayvier’s daily tasks.
“The most important part of my day is making sure that the food is prepped and ready to serve all the students.”
Jayvier and the rest of the cafeteria staff make sure they have everything done on time to ensure all the students of Selma High have food available to them throughout the day.
“My favorite part of my job is serving all you students,” he says.
But with a long day of work, one must be able to balance work and personal life. Jayvier shares what he likes to do in his free time, and who he enjoys spending it with.
“I have a lot more free time now, that’s a big change. I like to spend time with family and friends. Watch movies, go out, and play video games sometimes.”
Mr. Ceballos values quality time with his family and friends, and takes any chance he gets to be with those he cares the most about. He’s an open book, and hopes more people could see how fun he is to be around.
