Every day we eat a meal specially prepared for us, but what about the person behind the counter? Who is the one standing at the cart as you punch in your ID number? Who is the person who makes your warm plate of food that will get you through the day?
Alexis Ruacho is a new member of our school’s food-serving staff, joining the team in January of 2024. She previously worked at Abraham Lincoln Middle School, staying there for two months before becoming a Selma Bear employee.
At twenty years old, Alexis lives with her parents and two younger siblings, where her older sibling will soon join them. Alexis is currently handling two jobs, working at Selma High School and Dutch Bros in Fresno.
When asked about her job at Dutch Bros, she was ecstatic. “I love memorizing the recipes.”
Alexis loves to learn new recipes from different cultures. Lately, she has been cooking Asian cuisine.
“I like to make Asian fusion dishes, I’ve made kimchi stews and other Korean dishes,” she expressed.
She prefers to focus on Asian and European food, after mastering her own cultural food, Mexican cuisine.
Ms. Ruacho also enjoys baking.
“I like making macarons,” but she doesn’t stop there. “I love cake decorating and I’ve made different types of cakes; I make almond cakes, [etc.],” she mentioned.
Her hobbies revolve around food, allowing her to learn about new cuisines and cultures, ultimately expanding her tastes.
Alexis’ favorite part of her day is to reunite with her coworkers and friends, seeing all the familiar faces she greets every day.
Lastly, Alexis would like to tell every student to never stop educating themselves, whether on campus or through life experiences.
“Keep learning, don’t stop learning. You don’t have to go to school to learn, take life as a lesson,” she said.
Alexis Ruacho is new to the Selma Bear staff, make sure to welcome and thank her for everything she does, and will do.
