The boys’ basketball team had an outstanding season and finished off their season with a standing record of 19-11 and a league record of 6-2.
The league record left them first in the Tri-County Kings Canyon, leading to them winning League champs for the first time in eight years.
The team’s success has been built not only through the connections throughout the team but also through their competitive drive to be league champs.
On the boys’ senior night playing against Kingsburg, a team they had a previous loss to by one point in overtime. As the team battled through adversity throughout the game the team pulled through with a win securing them their spots as 2023-2024 league champs.
In the first round of CIF playoffs, the boy’s team prevailed and beat El Diamante and home 81-70. However, ending their season in the second round with a loss against Sunnyside on Sunnyside’s home court.
According to senior Roshan Dail, the biggest challenge the team faced was getting through the league season healthy.
“My favorite part of league would being league champs,” Roshan stated.
Throughout the season the team has battled through not only injuries to stay healthy but also two back-to-back League losses.
“The biggest struggle we overcame as a team was the two back-to-back losses and we still came back and won league champs,” Luke Machnik stated.
“The loss against Kingsburg took a toll on our seniors and our underclassmen,” Roshan added.
Luke’s favorite memory was the win on senior night that secured them the title of league champs.
The boys had a season to remember putting up a boys’ basketball banner up in our gym for the first time in eight years.
