Y’all I know I’m a little late to the review but here it goes. I will be reviewing Orquídeas by Kali Uchis. I chose this album since I remembered Mr. Montemayor suggested it and said it was really good. Plus I like Spanglish songs and this album is full of it. Kali Uchis is MOTHER so I know she won’t miss.
“Como Así” a 7 out of 10. I’d LOVE to listen to this during golden hour and while wearing a yellow halter top. I hope yall understand the vibes I’ll be describing after every song.
“Me Pongo Loca” gets a 9 out of ten. The beat reminds me of Halloween. I don’t know why. I’d love to listen to this song during October while driving on the highway at night.
“Igual Que Un Àngel” is a 10 out of 10! I know a lot of people said Peso Pluma would ruin the song since he won’t match Kali’s energy, but I’m sure we can all agree that he did not disappoint. This song makes me want to drive to Handford while the sun is going down as the sky is pink and orange.
“Pensamientos Intrusivos” gets an 8 out of 10. This song could DEFINITELY grow on me. I see so much potential in it.
“Diosa” will be getting an 8 out of 10. I would absolutely eat this song up on a Sunday while mopping the floor.
“Te Mata” will humbly get a 6 out of 10. Not my cup of tea but it’s very cute I will say. I would have to be somewhere downtown in Louisiana or Italy to listen to it. Specifically alone while wearing a red y2k dress and a rose on my ear.
“Perdiste” is a 8/10. This song after a heartbreak WOULD HIT. Someone break my heart so I could listen to this song in its full potential while driving down the coast. I feel like this song would make me feel better after a toxic relationship. PLEASE don’t take me serious. I know NOTHING about relationships.
“Young Rich in Love” DESERVES a 100/10. My absolute favorite song out of the album. Mother Kali did her big one with this one I would say. I’d love to be in a flower field with a significant other while the sun is going down. I might be getting too specific with these scenarios but y’all have to feel the vibe of the song.
“Tu Corazón es Mío” will get a 10 out of 10. Nothing much to say about this song. Just simply a GREAT song that brings all the vibes like wassup. You have to listen to this while driving down the coast in a vintage truck. You must sing your heart out and be EXTREMELY delusional too!
“Muñekita” will also humbly get a 8 out of 10. Personally, Tiktok kind of overplayed the song for me. Though, I would still listen to it while getting ready to go out with my friends or while with my friends in a car. BIG TURN UP!
“Labios Mordidos” will get a 10 out of 10! YUMMM tied with another song for my second favorite. This song makes me want to wear a very y2k outfit and add chunky highlights to my hair. I have to listen to it while grocery shopping in Medellin, Colombia.
“No Hay Ley Parte 2” will also get a 10 out of 10. This is the song tied with Labios Mordidos for second. OMG RAWU ALEJANDRO’S VERSE!!! DEVOURED PER USUAL. He and Kali are a duo I never knew I needed. Loved the reggaeton from this one. Made me reminisce about the songs I danced to when I was 5. That’s why this song makes me want to dance in a club alone feeling like THE BADDEST.
“Heladito” receives a 7 out of 10. I would listen to this song while I have rollers in my head and lining my lips with a maroon lip liner wishing I had a real life black and white filter to add to the vibe.
Last but not least, “Dame Beso // Muévete” will get a 7 out of 10 as well. I can’t tell if I like this song or not. It would probably get a lower rating if it was not for the second half of the song. This song could for sure grow on me more after a couple listens. I’d listen while cooking pozole or when home alone at 1pm while the sun is OUT.
Overall this album deserves a… drumroll please, 9 out of 10. I feel like I have a very authentic and raw review since I don’t listen to this type of music. So since I’m giving this album a high rating you know it must be good. Most songs would probably get a higher rating if I listened to them a couple more times. Just off one listen I would HIGHLY recommend this album. PLEASE STREAM A LATINA QUEEN’S ALBUM Y’ALL.
