On January 26th Selma High’s ASB held a glow in the dark winter rally. They showcased performances by the Black Bear Brigade, the Varsity Cheer squad and Mexican Dance. The rally also included recognition of all of Selma High winter sports.
The rally opened with an introduction of all winter sports athletes walking out of the Selma High bear tunnel.
This was followed by the band’s performance, as well as a choreographed set by the Varsity Cheer team. The final act was a choreographed dance from Mexican Dance.
After the performances were finished, Selma High’s ASB transitioned into the activities. The activities included the boys and girls sports teams going against each other.
The first activity was a shooting competition between girls and boys basketball. The challenge was simple, they had to make five layups, five free throws, five three pointers and one half court shot. In both the first and second rally the boys came out on top by barely making the half court shot before the girls.
The next activity was “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Cones.” The rules of the game were that you follow the instructions of the speaker; when the speaker says “cone” you grab the cone that is in between you and your opponent. This competition took place between girls soccer and boys soccer.
In the first round of the rally girls soccer took the win. However, In the second part of the rally, boys soccer came out on top.
The next challenge took place between girls and boys wrestling. The challenge was easy: you had to pop five balloons using yours and your partner’s body. Then you had to drag your partner across the gym floor on a blanket. In both the first and second rally, boys wrestling took home the win.
The final challenge was between the freshman, sophomores, and winter sports against the juniors and seniors. The final challenge was to see which side sang the lyrics louder. In the first rally, the juniors and seniors took home the win. However, in the second rally the freshman, sophomore, and winter sports took the win.
At the end, ASB finished off the rally with a fan favorite, Some Love by Kesha.
