Caitlyn and Courtney Aranda, twins at Selma High, began decorating cookies during holidays when they were younger. Now, with much encouragement from family and friends, they run the cleverly-named business: Double Trouble Cookies.
Working as a pair helps them manage being student-athletes as well as entrepreneurs.
“The business is very time-consuming and it is a struggle to cooperate [with] this and school work at the same time,” Cailtyn explains, “but working with my sister is so helpful. I know that if I was doing this on my own I probably wouldn’t be this far in the business”.
Her gratitude for collaboration is clearly reciprocated as Courtney describes her sister with, “good communication and a different skill set, and that makes it much easier”.
The praise they receive for their cookies also makes their struggles worthwhile. They’ve been complimented on their talent and told they have a wonderfully impressive business for their age.
Senior Natalee Mares said they had the, “best cookies I’ve ever had. Not even joking.”
Caitlyn and Courtney bake for baby showers and birthday parties with themes like Winnie the Pooh, Super Mario, farm animals, Moana, football teams, Spider-Man, and more. All orders are special, per their customer’s request.
“We get our ideas [from] our clients. They will send pictures and we try to go based off the images as much as possible,” Caitlyn says.
Their social media even displays colorful Rice Krispies, cakesicles, dipped pretzel rods, and frosted cupcakes. Their custom orders are shown to be individually wrapped, placed in a cake box, and sealed with a bow perfect for any celebration or just to brighten your day.
All it takes is a message to their Instagram for custom orders a week in advance. For sugar cookies, their price starts at $40 and increases based on the design of the cookies wanted. For regular cookies, you can purchase them for $20 a dozen and $10 for half a dozen. Follow them @doubletrouble.cookies today to get your sugar fix!
