All this expectation weighs heavily on my soul.
The pressure to succeed in sports and school may seem unfathomable,
Yet I see it as a blessing, one that comes with risk.
The chance to accomplish something great, at personal expense.
The social requirements fuel the fire, blasting it with oily words.
I realize the burdens, but I’m too caught up with work.
Escaping from expectation is like escaping from sin,
It’s everywhere you look, even from within.
From finding a challenge that may be too much, to
Earning an unexpected grade.
All I keep getting is the push to exceed.
Though it doesn’t come extrinsically,
Only from me.
