The Selma Bears football team won its game against Reedley on September 15th . Despite the slow start to the season, the Selma Bears have shown progression. Working together to get better has really got the team to build a stronger bond.
“Every game we’ve progressed forward we’ve gotten better,” said Coach Harshaw.
The team has put in their fullest efforts to better themselves. They have been able to advance and move forward as a team. Even though the team had a few upsetting moments, they were able to learn from their mistakes.
The coach has observed how his team is able to push themselves and play their best.
“I hope that we can get together practices that are enjoyable and to get some good wins,” said coach Mitch.
The football coaches hope to make the team more enjoyable in order to get pleasing results. It is always a good thing when things when practices and games are enjoyed, not only does it bring more spirit but brings the team bond closer. This can make the players want to keep their energy up. By keeping their energy up, the team and coaches hope for more wins.
There can be a lot of things that come with a team, the ups and downs of the team and season.
One factor of a team, especially a football team, are the players. The players should learn to see how they play, as well as how their teammates play. They should also learn to be observant towards their coaches.
“It was the lack of discipline in players, we just need to play football like the bears should,” said Ayden Valdez, a senior on the team.
The team registered what they needed to work on, realizing the efforts they put in didn’t lead to desirable results. The team was not playing how they wanted and didn’t execute the way they should be on the field. The team altogether needed a way to educate themselves and learn to focus on the game.
“I feel good about it. We didn’t get off to a hot start but we’ll finish strong,” stated Jordan Alvarez, a junior.
Players on the team may all have different points of view but all that matters is the relationship and communication between the team itself.
“Our biggest struggle is our offense,” said junior Dallas Luna.
Luna pointed out that one of the team’s weaknesses was their offense.
The players both see weaknesses in the team but are willing to work through them.
Just like every team, there will be weaknesses but what matters is how they learn from them and move past them. Mistakes are things that they can fix so they can improve.
The team knows that the start was rough but they are determined to keep pushing and finish off even better.
