As the Selma High School Boys’ varsity soccer team approaches the end of its season with an overall record of 9-4-2, it looks forward to finishing off strong and making a playoff run. The team had its most recent win, with a score of 3-1, against San Joaquin Memorial on December 2nd.
As the boys started strong with their season they felt confident in their team’s ability to succeed, but also welcomed the opportunity to improve.
“I feel strong with the start of our season but as we go on there’s always room for improvement,” sophomore Brando Alverado stated.
A key factor in helping the team improve and succeed is their relationships both on and off the field. It’s very clear to see how close knit the JV and Varsity teams are.
“The boys on both teams are like a family, on and off the field, they have eachothers back,’’ Assistant Coach Daniel Gallardo stated.
The team faces a tough schedule ahead, including some revenge games from past losses and look forward to battling it out and securing its playoff spot. Head coach Ruben Zamora praised his boys for their improvement throughout the season along with their determination and efficiency on the field.
