Baskin Robbins Review: Rainbow Sherbert

Chloe Mendoza and Ari Matias Perez

Chloe Mendoza:

I have always been a sherbet fan, and it all started when I tried Daiquiri Ice as a young lactose intolerant. Though sherbert is not always dairy free, sometimes it is, and consequently I spent many of my younger years exclusively indulging on this certain treat. Eating Rainbow Sherbet was a unique experience as it transported me back to my childhood. I was refreshed by the tricolored flavoring! Ari and I have speculated, and determined that the three flavors are in fact pineapple, raspberry, and orange. Each flavor is special in its own way, and I found that they complemented each other so perfectly.

The raspberry is cool and sweet, and would work well even as a stand alone flavor! The orange reminds me of those orange cream ice cream popsicles that they sell at the high school snack bar! The pineapple was a bit more difficult to place, but it ended up being one of my favorite components of sherbert.

In the end, this flavor was perfect for a nice spring day, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone with a knack for fruity things. I rate this an 8/10.

Ari Matias Perez:

Every time my family goes to Baskin Robbins, my brother gets some type of sherbert ice cream.  It never really called to me or seemed like something I’d like to try.

This time around, Chloe and I tried out the flavor Rainbow Sherbet.  It was a multicolored ice cream, all with different flavors.  It had a white portion that we think had some sort of pineapple flavoring.  Another portion was pink that we speculated was raspberry (I don’t know for sure though).  The last portion was orange and I just assumed it was orange flavored because it was orange but I wouldn’t be surprised if it incorporated other flavors as well.

The combination of white, pink, and orange wasn’t the most appealing ice cream out there in my opinion.  I’ve noticed

that whenever multiple bright colors are just mixed together in one, I typically don’t want to eat it.  Maybe it has something to do with our primal instincts that warn us about eating bright colored things but what do I know.

When I finally tried it, I was surprised.  I really thought I was going to strongly dislike this ice cream but it wasn’t that bad.  Of course it isn’t the best I’ve tried, but I could actually eat it and enjoy it.  It was a very fruity ice cream so if that’s your cup of tea, I highly recommend it.  I give this ice cream a 7/10.
