Pineapple On Pizza: Is It Really “Bad”?

Daisy Hernandez, Reporter

Pineapple on pizza, the neverending debate. I don’t really understand why people hate it but I do respect their decision to dislike it. However, if they have never tried it and say it’s disgusting, then that makes me lose all respect for their opinion. How can you know if you have never tried it? I understand that some people may just not like pineapple, and believe me when I say, I don’t either, but on pizza, it’s somehow acceptable. It just brings more flavor.

My mom loves Hawaiian pizza, so I was introduced to pineapple on pizza very early on. I honestly can’t imagine good pizza without pineapple. For me, it’s the best combination of sweet and salty.

Some people may say that pineapple ruined the texture of the pizza, and texture is an important part of food so I just respect their decision for not liking the combination. Others say that it just doesn’t combine well and to that I say, there are many other combinations that people believe don’t go well together, however, the people that created and enjoy them think otherwise. If you haven’t tried it, then do so, and then decide whether or not you like it.

For example, at first, I didn’t like pickles. You may be thinking, “How could you not like pickles!” This is exactly what I mean when I say, “How can you not like pineapple on pizza!” It’s just something you have to try for yourself to know whether or not you actually like it. At the end of the day, I’m just trying to make you try something new, and decide for yourself whether or not pineapple goes on pizza
