Allison Lee Makes Golf Seem Easy
February 10, 2021
Although I don’t know much about sports there are some great players that I have heard about from each sport. For example, there is Messi from Barcelona who is a soccer player. My family loves soccer so every time there was a soccer game the whole family would gather. Sports aren’t really my strong suit but because of my physical education class, we have been learning about all kinds of sports.
Last semester for one of the lessons in physical education, we learned about golf. Like many people, I didn’t really like golf at first. Golf is seen as a very easy sport and so when we started learning about it, I learned fairly quickly that it isn’t as easy as it may seem. Golf requires mental focus, strength, and accuracy; it’s not as easy as just hitting the ball. “I thought it looked super easy and a little boring.” mentioned Mrs. Sultenfuss, SHS’s PE teacher. “During college, after I tried it, it was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be, but I found I couldn’t think about anything else in my life besides hitting the ball. It was very relaxing, although it is still challenging to this day.” Golf does seem easy on the outside but in truth, it is a challenge, but challenges are always more fun.
As I mentioned, I don’t know much about golf besides what we were taught, but I came upon a female golfer that I thought was interesting. The name is Allison Lee. She is a 25-year-old professional golfer that plays on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tour. She debuted as a golfer in 2009 and joined the tour in 2015. During this time she received many achievements that helped her in achieving her professional status, such as ranking first in the world amateur golf rankings. According to National Club Golfer, Lee started playing around the age of five, after her father bribed her with going to Disneyland if she played. Although at first she was skeptical about the offer, she soon came to love the sport.
Lee started playing golf at the age of five. At the age of six, she won her first course on the Loz Feliz golf course. At 14 she went on to play in the US Open and made it to 10th place. Later on, she went to play for the Solheim Cup and finished 5th. She has had some defeats on the way but that only helped her grow into a better player.
Just like every influential person she has had her share of controversies, however, she always seems to solve them and make a comeback.
