Students Go Wild at HOCO Rally

The 2018 Homecoming Rally was one for the books, consisting of stunts, props, and much more. Selma High’s festive Homecoming Rally took place on October 19th. Just like past years, this rally included recognition to the different classes’ prince and princesses and a performance from the top three candidates for Homecoming king and queen.

 

Brar and Khanolkar Named Clarion Co-Editors-In-Chief

Gurman Brar and Saroj Khanolkar have been named Clarion Co-Editors-in-Chief for the 2018-2019 school year. Brar and Khanolkar have both been in the Clarion for two years, and each have experience as an editor. Brar was one of the two sports editors, and Khanolkar was one of the two news editors.

Sophomore Anna Armstrong Named State Champion At State History Day Competition

Selma High sophomore Anna Armstrong was named a state champion at the State History Day event, which was held at William Jessup University in Rocklin, California, on May 5-6, 2018. Anna will now represent Selma High and the state of California at the National level of History Day.

Saying Goodbye: Mr. Babiarz to Retire After 36 Years in Education

Mr. Babiarz, who has served as principal of Selma High since 2005, is wrapping up his final year as he prepares to retire.

“It will be hard to leave the staff and students at Selma High, as they make up what is great about the school,” said Mr. Babiarz. “After working in education for 36 years, the day-to-day interactions with adults and students will be missed.”

Graduation: The Start of a New Beginning

The Class of 2018 is all set to walk across the stage and live the moment they’ve dreamt of probably since elementary school. They are ready to graduate after the four years of fun, blood, sweat, tears and joy. They will definitely leave a legacy behind them with all the records they’ve set in academics and sports.

Seniors Await Universal Studios

On May 31st to June 1st, the Senior Class will be attending their 2018 Grad Night at Universal Studios Hollywood. They will enjoy an evening of attractions, dancing, and enjoyment in the park from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. One hundred and fifty seniors are set out to leave Thursday at 11 a.m. to enjoy their Grad Night.

SHS Scholars Win at 4.0 & Above Event

Selma High students who have a 4.0 or above participated in this event on October 4. The 4.0 and Above event is an annual event at The Big Fresno Fair where students from around the area are able to come together for a day of fun.

 

Coursing through the Olympic Rally

Selma High’s annual Olympic Rally raced off on Friday, April 27, in the Staley Stadium. There were five different teams who competed: freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and the staff. The seniors took the win with the juniors following up.

Selma High Choir Sings the Night Away

Selma High choir members performed an end-of-the-year concert which included a Senior Night on Thursday, May 17th.

This concert evoked mixed feelings due to the many seniors that were performing for the last time with the Selma High Choir.

Students Are Recognized At Annual Scholarship Night

Selma High School held its annual Scholarship Night for graduating seniors on Thursday, May 24, at 6:30 in the dining hall.

Various hardworking and deserving seniors have received a variety of scholarships that Selma High and multiple clubs and organizations have brought to our school.

Drama Club’s First Annual Showcase

The first annual showcase was held on Friday, April 27th , in the Dining Hall at 7 pm. The program began with a Prologue from “Into the Woods”, and was followed by individual performances of monologues and musical numbers.

 

 

On Thursday May 17, 2018 the Selma High FCOE Transitions class ventured to Pismo Beach for their annual beach trip. Students and Peer Tutors enjoyed a day on the beach and great food.

Selma High Welcomes New Vice Principal

Selma High prepares to welcome it’s new vice principal, Mr. Shawn Wisley.

Mr. Wisley has had much experience throughout his entire career with teaching at the high school level, and he is excited to come to Selma High.

ROTC Stays Busy Until The End
